Description

Habibti House is a stunning three-storey Shela townhouse with five spacious bedrooms, all with bathrooms-en-suite. Located next to Jaha House, Habibti stands in a few footsteps distance to Shela’s remarkably colorful fishermen’s beach in a quiet residential neighbourhood.

Its magnificent rooftop, where you stay under shady Makuti shelters, overviews all blooming gardens down to Lamu creek, the sailing dhows and the mangroves of Manda Island. There is always a cool breeze in the house and every floor provides many ritzy spaces as comfortable Swahili beds to daydream under the open sky.

THE HOUSE

On ground floor there is a fully equipped spacious kitchen with dining table, as also the nanny quarter.

On first floor, an open courtyard is surrounded at one side by a lounging area with snug swahili beds with lots of kussens & coffee tables; at the other side of the courtyard the dining space is dominated by a huge dining table made of old dhow wood, where you can either sit and enjoy extended dinners with relish, or just long lovely evenings sitting around this amazing piece of design. The impressive chandelier is made by a local artist. Two of the five bedrooms are located on the first floor. All bathrooms are ambitious designed to suit European pretensions.

The second floor accommodates one spacious appartement with an elegant en-suite-bathroom, a private loggia-terrace overlooking a picturesque part of Shela village, with lot’s of palm trees and bougainvillas bringing the exotic ambience. An open space with Swahili beds facing the courtyard completes the delightful lounging experience. There is a second bedroom on this floor, also decorated with plenty of style in which to relax. All bedrooms are furnished with Lamu four posterbeds, mosquito nets, ceiling fans and dressing tables.

The top floor of Habibti House comes with an impressing roof terrace and a large appartement, overviewing the Lamu channel to the green of Manda Island mangroves, an antique indian bed for outdoor sleep & a large baraza offering lots of comfort, and sunbeds that’ll invite you for a rest under the open sky. Most of the furniture in Habibti House, made of old dhow wood or mangrove wood, were crafted by the artistic Lamu timbers. The majority of the kussens and matrass’ covers are made out of beautiful used ethnic sail clothes, this came from all over the archipelago, all having different colours and design, telling stories about the past.

Habibti House is a marvelous hideaway with an ocean view, and offers its guest a holiday that will re-awake your soul. For those in search of something different, Lamu with it’s beautiful and unique cultural heritage will get you really inspired!
