Description
Located in the Aberdare National Park, the Treetops Lodge Nyeri tree-house lodge on stilts is famous as the place where Queen Elizabeth II visited as a princess and left as queen.
Originally built in 1932, Treetops Lodge lies in the path of an ancient Elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Ranges and Mt Kenya National park, and is strategically sited right in front of a natural watering hole and salt lick, making it the perfect place to view game.
Treetops is as much a part of nature as it has an ancient tree growing right through the hotel, with the lodge being built around it. It is the perfect fusion of nature and comfort sporting a rustic look that fits right into the Aberdares.
Why Visit Us
Game Viewing
Large windows have been fitted in all Treetops Lodge Nyeri rooms and public areas to view game and there’s restaurant and lounge where guests can relax while taking in the sight of Elephants, Buffalos and more. Photography hideouts have been created next to the watering hole to get you as close as possible to the animals.
Return the Bush Initiative
In 2007, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, The Treetops Lodge Nyeri launched the Return the Bush initiative to rehabilitate 125 hectares of the Aberdare National park. The project commenced with 1.5km of fencing and has progressed well since then. We have been able to rehabilitate over 20 hectares of land by planting over 22,000 indigenous trees.
Outdoor Jungle Drives
We have a number of game drives to choose from with stunning views, numerous species and natural features to look at. In between the drives, we have a bar set in the heart of nature where you can take in all the drive has to offer and sip your favourite drink while you’re at it.
Experienced Guides
We have a resident naturalist and hunter who are instrumental in discovering the indigenous flora and fauna around the Aberdares. The hunter whose date of birth coincides with the building of the Treetops is very well versed with the various animals at Aberdares National Park and will help you identify the animal and plant species found in the park.
