Vision and Mission

Vision

The Vision of the Government of Zanzibar regarding tourism is “To become one of the top tourism destinations of the Indian Ocean, offering an up market, high quality product across the board within the coming 17 years”.

Mission

The mission of Zanzibar regarding tourism development is To be the most exotic, diverse island destination in the Indian Ocean Region  Exotic as it is wrapped in a mysterious Arab/African ambience and flavored with palm fringed, tropical beaches.

Core Functions
The Zanzibar Commission for Tourism has the following core functions:

  • Administer and enforce  the tourism Act to ensure compliance
  • Develop, implement and review tourism policies, plans, strategies, guidelines and legislation in consultation with stakeholders
  • Promote and market Zanzibar as a tourist destination
  • Identify, develop, diversify and upgrade tourism products to attract visitors
  • Setting standards and regulating tourism enterprises
  • Undertake and coordinate research in the sector
  • Internal & external resource mobilization in consultation with other stakeholders.
