Description

The Pearl of Africa is one of the longest safaris offered by Bamboo Ecotours. The highlights of the 10 day safari include visiting Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, game safari in Murchison Falls National Park, chimp tracking in Kibale, wildlife safari at Queen Elizabeth National Park and gorilla tracking.


  • Travel from Kampala to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary / Murchison Falls National Park

    In the morning we will transfer from Kampala to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Rhino’s got extinct in Uganda in the early 1980s and Ziwa site is being used as breeding site for the black and white Rhino. After we will proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Dinner and Overnight at Parra Safari Lodge/RedChilli Rest Camp.

  • Game drive and boat trip at Murchison Falls National Park

    In the morning you will go for a game drive in the park to spot elephants, lions, giraffe and other wildlife. In the afternoon, you will take a relaxing boat trip on the River Nile and here you will have a chance to see crocodiles, hippos and a range of rare birds. You will also see for yourself the point where River Nile joins Lake Albert, which is one of the “major highlights” of this trip.

  • Visit the top of the Murchison Falls and transfer to Kibale National Park

    This trip will take to you to upper Murchison Falls National Park where you have spectacular views of the Murchison Falls along the Nile River. After will head to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal town. In the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi Swamp which has a variety of bird species.

  • Chimp Tracking at Kibale National Park

    Starting in the morning at Kibale National Forest Park, you will go into the jungle to encounter with chimpanzees and different species of monkeys like the Red Tailed Monkey, Olive baboon and Black and White Columbus Monkey. If trekking is completed early, have a walk in the nearby Bigodi wetland.

  • Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drive and Kazinga Channel boat trip

    In the morning you will start with the game drive where you should expect species such as elephants, buffaloes, side stripped jackals, hyena, leopards, Lions, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, giant forest Hogs. After lunch, you will take a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see a lot of hippos and a variety of other animals like Buffalo, Crocodile, bathing Elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.

  • Head to Ishasha sector for tree climbing lions and transfer to Kisoro in the afternoon

    This trip takes you through Ishasha famously known for tree-climbing lions, the lions have learnt to climb the fig trees to escape the midday heat and if you’re lucky, you will see some sleepy lions relaxing in the branches. You will also see buffalo, topi and hippo among other species. After the game drive, you will proceed to Kisoro for overnight.

  • Lake Mutanda canoe trekking in the morning and coffee tour in the afternoon

    Spend the morning on a sunrise canoe trek at Lake Mutanda. You will also spot bird on the canoe trip to the Lake Mutanda punishment island. In the afternoon, join a coffee making tour in the community and learn how to make you own coffee directly from the farm.

  • Gorilla tracking day

    The gorilla trekking adventure will begin with a briefing by the guide on how to handle yourself once you enter the home of the “endangered species”. The trip can take about 3 to 9 hours deepening on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. Get hold of your camera as you will be able to take lots of photos. This will be “a remarkable experience”!

  • The Batwa Trail in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

    This is a unique cultural experience where you will be guided by an indigenous group called “Batwa”. The Batwa are one of indigenous communities living at the periphery of the gorilla parks in south western Uganda. The Batwa will walk you through how they used to hunt and gather fruits in the forest before they were evicted from their ancestral land.

  • Last Day and End of Tour

    Early in the morning, a Bamboo Ecotours guide will drive off to Kampala for an 8-9 hours journey.
