10 Day Kenya Game Safari

  • Samburu - Buffalo Springs Reserve

This morning we pick you from your hotel in Nairobi and drive north to the fertile Central Highlands. We then drive past Timau on the slopes of Mt. Kenya before descending the Mt. Kenya massif to the low lying town of Isiolo, gateway to the Northern Frontier. Arrive at Buffalo Springs Reserve and game drive en-route to our campsite arriving in the afternoon.

The reserve is located on the fringe of the arid northern region of Kenya within the territory of the Samburu pastoralists. Due to it’s location it has wildlife that is rare elsewhere in the country. These animals include the Gerenuk antelope (eating bushes whilst standing up on their hind legs), Beisa Oryx, Grevy’s  Zebra, Somali Ostrich,  Reticulated giraffe. Overnight at campsite.

  • Buffalo Springs Reserve

We have two days to explore the reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. Relax at camp during the heat of the day. Perhaps we might see elephants bathing in the river or crocodile basking on the mud flats, not to mention numerous species of birds including Kenya’s smallest bird of prey, the Pygmy Falcon. Overnight at camp.

  • Day 3/4: Mt. Kenya National Park

We pack up this morning and return to the main road to continue on the road through Isiolo and Nanyuki then to the lower slopes of the mountain in time for lunch at our campsite. After some rest we can take a walk into the forest through montane forest, bamboo, rosewood and heather zones to Old Moses camp (3,300m). The forest and bamboo are home to Buffaloes, Elephants, Bushbucks and a plethora of bird species. We may be lucky to see some of them. Dinner and overnight at camp.

  • Lake Nakuru National Park

We depart for Lake Nakuru National Park via Thomson Falls at Nyahururu. Lake Nakuru is famous for its bird life, particularly the multitude of Lesser Flamingos that often form a pink fringe around the lake and are a sight to behold and for the keen birdwatcher, one of the wonders of the world. The lake is one of the Rift Valley’s soda lakes and is fringed on one side by shady Acacia forest. This park is also rhino a rhino sanctuary and a home to other mammals like Colobus monkey, hippo, leopard, lion, waterbuck, impala, giraffe etc.

    • Overnight at camp.

  • Lake Nakuru National Park

We have a full day to explore this park. Our game drives in the park may produce a leopard returning to his daytime hideout, many waterbuck, warthogs, hippo, buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, vervet monkeys, bohor reedbuck and other species of wildlife. There are many rhinos in the park. Dinner at camp with the sounds of African night all around us.

  • Masai Mara National Reserve

Today we set off on the long drive to the Mara arriving late afternoon. We will use the route through Mau Narok or Mai Mahiu to Narok town then onto the Mara. Game drive on the way to Camp arriving for late lunch. An afternoon game drive from Camp returning as night falls. After dinner the evening is spent around the campfire listening to the sounds of the African bush.

    • Dinner and overnight at camp.

  • Day 8 / 9: Masai Mara National Reserve

Spend the day exploring the Mara ecosystem seeking the area's abundant wildlife. On our game drives we might come across the "Big 5" - lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino. The Masai Mara’s varied wildlife and natural environment come together to provide a spectacular safari experience.

    • Dinner and overnight at Camp

  • Nairobi

Early morning game drive followed by breakfast and then depart for Nairobi stopping at Narok for a break( NOT LUNCH). We plan to be in Nairobi in the afternoon.
