Description

In the northernmost corner of Uganda, bordering South Sudan lies the pristine wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park. The land of the Karamajong is woven from vast plains split open by handsome rock formations. This distinctive safari delivers another side of Uganda, a reminder that if you haven’t ventured into this secluded park, you haven’t truly seen Uganda.

  • Travel to Rwenzori

A driver awaits us in the morning to start our journey to the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. We stop for lunch on our way to the foothills of the mountain range where we check into our lodge for the night.Accommodation: Wild Tracks Overland Camp Meal Plan: Half-Board.

  • Trek through the Bamboo

Forest Our hike begins at Kilembe where we traverse the valley floor, encountering birds and primates in the overgrowth as we forge ahead. The path takes us through a timeless bamboo forest where the woods bloom with flowers, moss, and hanging vines in the tranquil habitat of the L’Hoest Monkeys.

We arrive at Enoch Falls, an awe-inspiring vantage point that signals we are close to Sine Camp. At Sine Camp, we rest around the campfire with a view overlooking Enoch’s Falls and the mountain panorama’s beyond.

  • Valley of Splendor

The path out of Sine Camp is a steep climb through a bamboo forest interspersed with fruit and berry trees. This idyllic forest is home to a variety of birds including the rare Rwenzori Turaco bird.

Along the path, the bamboo is replaced by towering heather trees that bring us to Kalalama Camp which offers an impressive view of Lake George. We trek on into a flat valley of lobelia plants that leads to Samalira Camp, our lodging for a night in the valley.

  • Descend along Nyamwamba River

Today, we descend back down to the foothills, passing through Omusita rest area and onward to the park entrance. After our descent, we retreat to Wild Tracks Overland Camp for the night. Accommodation: Wild Tracks Overland Camp

  • Transfer to Queen Elizabeth – Afternoon boat cruise & evening game drive

After breakfast, we journey on to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check-in upon arrival. After resting and recharging with lunch, we set out to Mweya and launch a boat cruise along Kazinga Channel. A cruise down this stretch of water between Lake Albert and Lake George is the best way to spot hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles and multitudes of birds flocking to the waterside.

After the cruise, we set a course through the enchanting crater lakes on the way to Kasenyi for an evening game drive. From the drive, we return to the lodge for dinner.

  • Early morning game drive-transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with a brief tour of Kitagata hot springs

The day starts with an early morning game drive to spot wildlife grazing before the sun peaks. After the drive, we return to the lodge to check-out and start the next leg of our journey.

Our destination is Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale, but our route offers astounding landscapes including the Kitagata hot springs and an incredible vista of Lake Bunyonyi. Once we arrive at our destination, we check in for the night.

  • Range of activities to choose

from; Birding, nature walk, and alot more activities of your choice A full day of adventure awaits at Lake Bunyonyi. The day is open to a selection of fun-filled activities at the lake, including nature walks, canoeing, cycling, cultural encounters, and birding.

  • Transfer to Lake Mburo national park- evening nature walk

From Lake Bunyonyi, we set a course back east to Lake Mburo, stopping for lunch in Mbarara. After check-in, we head out for a guided nature walk in the evening.

Though Lake Mburo is one of Uganda’s smallest parks, it hosts a high concentration of river formations and swamplands that make it a popular habitat for many animals, especially Zebras. A nature walk sets a steady pace for spotting the abundant wildlife of Lake Mburo.

  • Return to Kampala

We depart after breakfast but we do not deprive ourselves of another chance to spot zebras, antelopes, and other wildlife on the drive out of the park. We stop at the equator for a photo opportunity and to select some craft souvenirs from the market. From there we set a course for Kampala or onward to Entebbe.
