DOES SIZE MATTER ?

Well it does according to us. We go for the small boutique properties every time. You deserve a personal experience whereby you engage with camp hosts and staff alike. Dining is often communal and fertile grounds to exchange stories with other guests and learn more about your surrounds in a convivial environment.
These properties are set up to cater to individual needs as much as possible and leave you feeling part of the program and not merely a statistic.

EVER THOUGHT ABOUT YOUR GUIDE ?

You should. The single most important variable on your safari is your guide. Good guiding is an art form combining meticulous knowledge , congeniality, flexibility, and humour. On many flying safaris you will have a different guide at each property which ensures the maximum level of local expertise and knowledge. We only use properties that have a team of quality guides to ensure your wildlife and wilderness experience measures up to, or surpasses, the standard of your accommodation.

I'VE NEVER CAMPED BEFORE

Pocket knife, sleeping bag, head torch etc etc forget it this is not the boy scouts. Tented camps in Africa are incredibly luxurious ... the romance is in the canvas but every facility and comfort lies under it. En suite bathrooms, running water and twenty four hour power are all standard in these enormous canvas homes.

LODGES VS CAMP

This is no black or white question at the boutique end of the spectrum. Often there is little difference between the two as there are the most amazing lodge rooms with open sides and beds draped in mosquito nets. On the camp side on offer is everything from large mobile style tents to fixed structures whose canvas is merely a decoration. Don’t get hung up on it, if you like it go for it.

WHY STAY IN A CONSERVANCY

Where possible we recommend private conservancies. If low densities of vehicles, no minivans and strict codes of conduct are not your thing then there is an array of National Parks and Reserves available. There are times when there will be no choice however when there is remember high quality conservancies can guarantee a high quality safari experience.
