Description

A country with epic topography, Tanzania is a wilderness and wildlife extravaganza. This vast and sparsely-populated country hosts some of the greatest wildlife experiences on Earth.

From the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro to the game-rich Ngorongoro Crater, from the endless plains of the Serengeti to the baobabs of the Tarangire, Tanzania is the safari insider’s hot tip. Boasting 14 national parks and numerous game reserves, this is home to the largest wildlife herds on the African continent, as well as the palm-fringed island of Zanzibar, ideal for post-safari relaxation.

  • Arrival – Arusha – Tarangire

Upon arrival, you will be met at the  Arusha International Airport and proceed to Tarangire National park.  Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the center of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebras. We retire the late afternoon at Tarangire River with the breathtaking views over the river where animals congregate for a valuable drop of water especially during the dry months.

    • Accommodation: Tarangire Sopa Lodge  (LDBB)

  • Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

After breakfast we drive up the Rift Valley escarpment towards Serengeti.   Proceed with game drives slowly in the Serengeti plains as you head to your lodge for tonight’s overnight.  The Serengeti’s endless plains provide an exceptional landscape for wildlife viewing; it truly is ultimate safari country. Often spotted in the Serengeti are elephants, hippos, lions, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, leopards and more. [BLD]

    • Accommodation:  Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

  • Serengeti National Park

Having one more night in this area, you will have breakfast at the Lodge before we embark on an early morning game drive in the park. The Migration, consisting of around 2 million animals, is on the move all year round. You may see these impressive phenomena. Naturally it also attracts a mass of predators and you may be able to see a band of lionesses gather for a hunt. You will return to your lodge for a sumptuous lunch to gather strength for the afternoon game drive. [BLD]

    • Accommodation:  Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

  • Serengeti – Ngorongoro National Park

After breakfast, depart driving  to the  Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En-route you  visit Olduvai Gorge and the museum which documents the discovery of 1.8 million year old human-like fossils.   Afterwards, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

    • Accommodation:  Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

  • Ngorongoro National Park – Lake Manyara

After breakfast depart with picnic lunch boxes and descend down the crater for a six hours tour.  Ngorongoro Crater is a spectacular setting and contains an abundance of wildlife with over 20,000 large animals including Tanzania’s remaining black rhino. After your picnic lunch,  depart driving to Lake Manyara National park.  The spectacular national park is located at the northwestern corner of a shallow soda lake that it is named after, at the foot of the Great Rift Valleys western escarpment. Manyara is not only known for its large flocks of flamingos but also for the elusive tree climbing lions.

    • Accommodation: Lake Manyara Serena Tented Camp LDBB
