  • Arrive in Entebbe

You will stay in our very own boutique guest house and can relax in our tropical garden, home to many beautiful birds. If your arrival time allows, we highly recommend a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria (optional), the perfect Ugandan welcome.

  • Kibale Forest

Today you will take an enjoyable drive to Kibale Forest stopping en-route for lunch in pleasant town of Fort Portal. The drive takes us through the bustling Ugandan capital, Kampala, before heading west into the rich, fertile highlands of the Albertine Rift Valley.

Pass colonial era tea plantations, lush forests and your first taste of rural Ugandas beautiful landscapes and villages. You will spend the night at Primate Lodge, nestled in the heart of the rainforest, its the perfect location on the doorstep of tomorrow mornings Chimpanzee tracking.

  • Kibale Forest - Chimpanzee Tracking

Today you will experience the excitement of wild chimpanzee tracking. Setting off early in the morning, your tracker will look and listen for signs of the Chimpanzee troop. Chimpanzees are very active and often very vocal. You can be treated to a range of behaviours from eating, to mating, to fighting to playing to grooming.

A troop of chimpanzees hooting in the forest and drumming on tree buttresses is a sight to see and hear! In the afternoon you will take a nature walk through the Bigodi swamp, a chance to look for more of the diverse primate and bird life that this forest protects. You will spend another night at Primate Lodge, with time to reflect on your day with our closest relatives.

  • Queen Elizabeth National Park - North

Drive south through the stunning Rift Valley, past the mighty Rwenzori Mountain Range and into the Northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have the opportunity to spot wildlife en route to our lunch spot on the stunning Mweya peninsular before taking a boat safari on one of the most densely game populated waterways in all of East Africa - the Kazinga Channel. We will send the night at Katara Lodge which commands unrivalled views of the Eastern Rift Valley, the Rwenzori mountains and any widllife that is on the plains below.

  • Queen Elizabeth National Park - South

Drive further south into the depths of Queen Elizabeth National Park. After an interesting journey you will arrive on the Ntungwe River. You will stop here for lunch before heading into the remote Ishasha sector of the park, famed for its tree climbing lions. Spend the afternoon exploring the rich grassland plains, encountering large herds of Buffalo, Uganda Cob, Topi and Elephant. This area also offers spectacular birding as well as its high density of big cats and hyena.

  • Bwindi Impeneterable - Gorilla Tracking

After a short drive we will approach the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Your lodge faces the forest and offers stunning views into the canopy. The afternoon is a perfect opportunity to relax in awe of your forest surroundings. The mist that rises in the early morning conjures a magical and mystical sensation, it is not to be missed. Gorilla tracking starts at 8am with a safety briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. A trek can last anywhere from a few hours to a full day.

These animals are 100% wild and while territorial, can cover vast distances in one day. After breakfast you will take a short walk to the tracking headquarters. Once located by the trackers you will have a magical one hour window into the world of the mountain gorilla. You will observe the family as they eat, relax and socialise. On rare occasions a gorilla may move very close to you, this is their choice as a wild animal but you should not expect this nor make the approach yourself.

  • Lake Mburo National Park

We will leave the rift valley and head east into the rolling hills of central Uganda. Lake Mburo National Park is our destination today, a beautiful and compact park with some of the highest densities of game in Uganda.

You will spend the afternoon on a relaxing boat safari and spotting game on the drive back to the lodge. The night is spent at Rwakobo Rock, a striking granite outcrop which commands panoramic views over the dense bush of the park.

  • Return to Entebbe

On your final day you will enjoy a hearty and relaxing breakfast at the lodge before setting off towards Entebbe and Lake Victoria. Along the way you can choose to detour to the Mbamba swamp, home to the very rare Shoebill Stalk.

A canoe safari with local birding guides will lead you through quiet channels in search of these prehistoric looking birds - beauty in the eye of the beholder! You will return to Entebbe in time for an evening meal (we will provide you with some recommendations) before your return flight.

Alternatively you may wish to extend your trip to include an extra night or two in Entebbe, which opens many options for Lake Victoria based activities. Ask us for our top tips and recommendations!
