Description

This tour offers luxury accommodation exclusively at Serena Property. It does not include accommodation in Arusha, but we can arrange this at Serena Mountain Village at an extra cost. Join Gilmag Safaris and witness the elephants and centuries old Baobab trees of Tarangire, travel the endless plains of the world-famous Serengeti, search the elusive Big 5 in the Ngorongoro Crater and hunt the rare tree climbing lions of Manyara. US$35/person per day from Good Friday to Easter Monday will apply.

  • Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park

After Breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, arriving in time for hot lunch. Lake Manyara provides a perfect introduction to TanzaniaÂ’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favoured haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants.

Overnight will be at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara.

  • Manyara - Serengeti

Serengeti, a UNESCO world heritage site, is home to around 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 ThomsonÂ’s gazelle, which join in the wildebeestÂ’s trek for fresh grazing. Our experienced driver tour guide will provide you with interesting facts about this highly renowned event, which makes Tanzania the top safari destination in Africa.

Overnight will be at Serengeti Serena Lodge, which is centrally located adjacent to the famous Western Corridor and Grumeti River, the lodge has been designed to blend completely into the living landscape and commands a panoramic view across Serengeti.

  • Central Serengeti

You will have full day game viewing in Central and Western Corridor along the Grumeti River. We expect the wildebeest migration to be in this region during this period. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for a well deserved hot shower followed by dinner and overnight.

  • Optional Balloon Safari in Serengeti

You have the option to do an early morning balloon safari at Serengeti and this will be followed by another game drive at Serengeti National Park. Your Balloon Safari adventure starts early morning when you depart your lodge. It is still dark and you may be fortunate to see nocturnal animals on the way to the launch site.

  • Serengeti - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you will depart Serengeti Serena and drive towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area for game viewing at Ngorongoro Crater, passing through Olduvai Gorge to the site of the Leakey family where 50 km fossils long were discovered from almost two million years ago. Overnight will be at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

This lodge clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the largest volcanic crater on earth. Long and low, the lodge is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines. This is designed to blend completely with the landscape and is entirely invisible from the floor of the crater 600 metres below.

  • Crater Tour

Early morning game drive at Ngorongoro Crater, the eighth wonder of the world and one of AfricaÂ’s best wildlife arenas. This place offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Thousands of large mammals can be found in the Crater including elephants and Rhinos. Others are: ThomsonÂ’s and GrantÂ’s gazelles, warthogs, hippos, zebras, waterbucks, hyenas, buffalo, jackals and if lucky enough; lions will be sleeping by your vehicle for shade.

  • Ngorongoro - Tarangire National Park - Arusha

You will depart the lodge and drive to Tarangire National Park in Northern Tanzania for game viewing. Tarangire National Park is famous for its elephant migration, and birding safari. As this park is slightly off the main safari route, majority of travelers leave this out in favor of the nearer ones, which leaves major parts of Tarangire untouched. We will head back to Arusha in the afternoon where you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your onward flight.
