Tarangire National Park – Elephants and Baobab Trees on Your First Game Drives
Gigantic tusks greet you at the entrance to Tarangire National Park. A handful of elephants are chomping away beyond the parks unfenced borders, and they give an indication of whats to come. Meander into the park and its impossible to count how many elephants you see. Maybe 1,000 elephants? Perhaps more? Giraffe join them in the woodland while large herds of impala flit around the edge of the trees. When the woodland opens into savannah, there are more large herds, this time buffalos, and their strange stares.
Leopards occupy baobab branches while cheetah hide in the grasslands, each waiting to pounce on an eclectic variety of ungulates. After the two-hour drive from Arusha, you spend the day exploring Tarangire in your safari vehicle. Youve got window seats, of course, and the roof pops open for uninterrupted 360-degree panoramas over the landscape. The Tanzanian safari experience is fully immerse, and there is no easy separation of game viewing.

Venture Onwards to the world famous Serengeti
After an indulgent breakfast, your day will begin with your departure for the famous Serengeti National Park. Arriving in the park later in the day, you will embark on an afternoon game drive for an adventurous Tour through the vast plains of the area. Keep your eyes sharp for the flourish of zebras that stand out in the golden plains. The smell of tall grass fills the vehicle; the warm sun cools slightly as the afternoon begins to fade, but the bright white stripes of the zebra shine against their deep black streaks.
Lion prides peacefully coexist, while hyenas and jackals scrounge for scraps. Giraffes amble along the horizon, their necks silhouetted against a burning sunset. Thompsons gazelle seem to pop up everywhere, while circling vultures reveal the location of a recent kill. With morning and afternoon game drives youll be overwhelmed by the sights of the Serengeti. Spend a Full Day Exploring the Serengeti, Searching for the ContinentÂ’s Most Famous Wildlife
Early in the morning depart for a morning game drive as morning is a good time to see the animals active. Today we recommend devoting your time to observing the Great Wildebeest Migration. This phenomenal migration of two-million ungulates is heralded as one of the world’s most impressive natural feats, and if timed correctly, you will have the chance to drive into the epicentre of it all. Setting out at dawn, work your way along the dirt trails as your guide follows signs of the migration.
Wildebeest will soon begin to speckle the horizon, growing in density as you near the central section of the migration. Soon, you fill find yourself completely surrounded by the species – though keep an eye towards the perimeter, where hungry predators are often seen lurking. As the sun begins to near the horizon transfer to your camp for dinner and overnight. As the sky theatrically transforms around you, enjoy the solitude felt in your personal part of the bush as you fall asleep.

Discover Ngorongoro Crater
Very early in the morning begin your day with a lovely breakfast amongst the open plains. Perhaps you heard the light footprints of a hyena in the night wandering through you site. Have early game viewing as you depart the Serengeti and make your way to the Ngorongoro Crater for a 5 to 6 hours game drive. Descend into the crater for a day’s game drive along the constant lush green grounds, where the most majestic animals of the African wild can be found.
With black rhino grazing the grassland, and lions lazing about the cushioned grass, there is no end to the beauty and splendour of the crater. As you wander through the crater floor, search the area for remnants of the endangered wild dog. With bodies that resemble wolves, and ears that look like saucers, their fur is dark brown and splashed with black. In the late afternoon the smell of fresh grass fills the air as you ascend the crater’s rim and make the drive to your camp for dinner and overnight.

The Majestic Lake Manyara - Arusha
Each Tanzanian park is different, ensuring that every game drive brings a fresh perspective and new experience. A meandering trail takes you through the Lake Manyara, each turn revealing something that lurks in the shadows. Perhaps you’ll spot a troop of baboons; mothers cradling babies and skipping across the red ground, old males reclining against a tree. Or maybe an elephant, appearing from nowhere and standing almost within touching distance.
Youll drive slowly through the forest, each corner bringing surprise, and each tree a possible resting place for the tree-climbing lion. Lake Manyara is nestled into the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, and its forest is combined with a hippo infested lake and elephant covered floodplain. In the late afternoon depart to Arusha. The Tour may have ended but the adventures never do; as you make your way eventually home you have found a sanctuary, for wildlife, for culture, for yourself, and for an endless preservation of memories.
