Description

Your tour begins and ends in Nairobi – covering East Africa’s biggest and most famous national parks in between! You will see many wonders of the modern world, including the great migration of wildebeest from the Serengeti to Maasai Mara. You will journey into Uganda for gorilla trekking and enjoy relaxing time on Zanzibar beaches. This tour is a sure way to leave you with memories to last a lifetime!

  • Nairobi

Today you will be picked up at the airport and taken to our office for a pre-departure meeting. Later you will be dropped off at your hotel, where you can relax and prepare to start your safari with a fresh, rested mind. Your overnight will be at the Hennessis Hotel.

  • Nairobi - Maasai Mara National Reserve

Check out of your hotel and drive via Narok town to Maasai Mara National Reserve, home of the Maasai tribe. The proud, young Maasai warrior-nomads with their plaited hair, red cloaks and spears will inspire you. Maasai Mara is a 700 square mile game reserve and is the Africa you know from your dreams, complete with wild animals grazing amid the superb rolling landscape of gentle hills and acacia woodlands.

Check in to your lodge and enjoy lunch. There will be time to settle in before your first game drive. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve and return to camp before dark. Your dinner and overnight will be at the Mara Springs Tented Camp.

  • Maasai Mara National Reserve

Today you may opt to have a full day of uninterrupted game driving or take a hot air balloon ride (not included in the safari price). If you choose the balloon ride, you will take to the skies for the ultimate Maasai Mara wildlife adventure. Soar over herds of game to the inner reaches of the Mara. You’ll ascend in the early morning when the winds are calmest. Watch as the professional crew fills the balloon with hot air. Slowly the big, colorful bag begins to bulge and take shape.

After your incredible flight, it’s time to come back down to earth for breakfast. You might wonder what all the ordinary people are doing on this perfect African morning! Before leaving, the pilot will present you with your balloon flight certificate, after which you’ll enjoy a game drive en route back to the camp. No flight of the imagination can match this airborne experience! Your dinner and overnight will be at the Mara Springs Tented Camp.

  • Maasai Mara - Lake Nakuru National Park

After an early breakfast you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park in the west. You will ascend the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley, where lush coffee and tea plantations dot the landscape. Your driver-guides will give you a brief overview about coffee and tea farming in Kenya along the way, and you will have a short stopover at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for photographs.

You will arrive in Lake Nakuru in time for lunch, after which you will set off for a game drive in the park in search of the big five: lions, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes and elephants. Lake Nakuru is also famous for the millions of flamingoes and migrant birds that dot its shores. In fact, Nakuru has over 425 different bird species. You will return to the hotel before dark for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

  • Lake Nakuru - Jinja

After breakfast you will depart Nakuru for Jinja, driving across the Malaba border in the process. You will tour the source of the world’s longest river: the Nile. It begins its journey here before crossing through ten African countries and plunging into the Mediterranean Sea. Jinja town is regarded as the adventures capital of East Africa. It is brimming with adventure sports and activities, including white water rafting, bungee jumping, and kayaking.

  • Jinja - Kabale - Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast you will drive to Kabale, Uganda’s highest town (2000m), witnessing beautiful, lush scenery along the way. We will camp at Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s deepest crater lake (900m). Bunyonyi means “place of the little birds”, so you can expect to view interesting and unique bird life while staying here.

Enjoy a beautiful drive over the mountains as we transfer to our base in Kisoro, which sits on the southwestern tip of Uganda. You will have a relaxing evening as we prepare for the trek ahead. This is an excellent place to rest before your gorilla trek.

  • Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today we embark on the experience of a lifetime. Trek through the early morning mist in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is home to roughly half of the worlds 700 remaining mountain gorillas. The trekking can be demanding and the day long - a water bottle and good walking shoes or boots are highly recommended.

  • Lake Bunyonyi

Today you will eat breakfast and then take a guided walk to visit locals in the community. You will have the option to visit with the local Batwa people or go canoeing on the lake. Return to camp in time for lunch, after which you will be free to visit the childrenÂ’s orphanage in the local village.

  • Kabul - Lake Bunyonyi - Jinja

Right after breakfast you will drive to Jinja, stopping for lunch in Kampala. Once in Jinja, you will again explore the source of the Nile, which was discovered by the legendary John Hanning Speak. The Nile is Africa’s longest river, and it flows northwards up the continent through Egypt and into the Mediterranean Sea. You will have a good chance to do water rafting today. Your dinner and your overnight stay will be at Hotel Paradise.

  • Jinja - Lake Naivasha

After breakfast you will drive to Lake Naivasha, stopping for lunch en route. Upon arrival, you will have ample time to relax in your room or you can opt to go on an afternoon boat ride. Later you will return to your banda to dine and spend the night at Carnelleys Camp.

  • Green Crater Lake

Breakfast will be at 7:00 am, after which your driver-guide will pick you up at 8:00am. The road to the Green Crater Lake takes you out of Naivasha and along a rough and bumpy path down the edge of lake, passing by huge greenhouses where roses and other flowers are grown for the export market. You will arrive at Green Crater Lake at approximately 9:30am, at which point you will begin your morning game walk. The Green Crater Lake was formed by volcanic activity.

You will walk in a reserve where it’s possible to get up close with giraffe and many varieties of antelope. It’s a great opportunity for photos! The guides will answer questions about the animals, bird life etc. and point out the rocks that formed due to the volcanic activity. At 12:00pm you will leave for lunch at Carnelley’s Camp. In the afternoon you can enjoy some optional activities like cycling around the village or taking a small powerboat out on the lake (cost not included).

  • Lake Naivasha - Arusha

After breakfast we will depart for Arusha via Nairobi. Our journey will take us across the border into Tanzania, and we will arrive in the picturesque town of Arusha in time for lunch. Arusha sits at the foot of rugged Mount Meru and is the gateway to most of Tanzania’s safari areas. The afternoon will be spent at your leisure. Your dinner and overnight will be at LOasis Lodge.

  • Arusha - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you will transfer to the famous Serengeti National Park. This park is to Tanzania what the Maasai Mara Game Reserve is to Kenya. Covering 14,763 sq km, the Serengeti is dominated by vast, open plains and an abundance of wildlife. A picnic lunch will be provided en route, and the afternoon will be spent game viewing and absorbing the breathtaking scenery.

  • Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

Transfer to the Ngorongoro crater via Olduvai Gorge. Ngorongoro is an impressive 20km wide volcanic crater with 600m walls. The views from the crater rim are breathtaking, and there is an ever-present abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Olduvai Gorge is famed for the discovery of 3.5 million year-old fossil fragments from an early human civilization. We will enjoy lunch overlooking the crater and the afternoon will be spent at your leisure.

  • Ngorongoro - Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is most spectacular during the dry season, when thousands of animals migrate into the park from the surrounding dry Maasai steppe in order to use the permanent water supply of the Tarangire River. You can see herds of elephants numbering in the hundreds or some of TarangireÂ’s famous tree pythons.

  • Tarangire - Arusha - Zanzibar

After breakfast you will be driven to Arusha for your flight to Zanzibar Island. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met by a chauffeur who will then take you to your hotel. This will be your residence for the next four days. You will have an amazing and relaxing time!

  • Zanzibar

Today you will enjoy a full buffet breakfast and a day of uninterrupted, relaxing tranquility. After the long days spent on game drives viewing wildlife before, you will relish having free time in a cool and quite environment. This day will be well spent on the beach!

  • Zanzibar

Today you have the option of going on the famous "Spice Tour" to the spice and fruit plantations close to Stone town (cost not included). We have developed a special Spice Tour that includes in depth information not only about spices, but also about the organically grown local herbs and their traditional uses in medicine, cosmetics and cooking.

After the tour we invite you to an opulent lunch at one of our guidesÂ’ home, where you will have the chance to taste the spices and fruits.

  • Zanzibar

After breakfast you will spend another day on the beach relaxing. You will have ample time to refresh your mind and body. It will be your last full day at the beach – so enjoy it to the fullest! In the evening you will go back to the resort to enjoy your dinner.

  • Zanzibar - Nairobi

After a luxurious safari experience and a relaxing beach holiday, bid farewell to Africa as you are transferred to the airport for your flight home via Nairobi.
