Description

This safari shall take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lake Bunyonyi excellent places for bird watching with a specialized birding guide. There are over a 1,061 bird species, which makes Uganda a birders paradise. Species include: Shoebill Stork, Saddle Billed Stork, Pelicans, Herons, African Fish Eagle, Bateleur, Long Crested Eagle, Vultures, Owls, Grey Crowned Crane, Great Blue Turaco, Rwenzori Turaco, Hornbills, Honey birds, Sunbirds, Weavers and the African Finfoot.


  • Arrival at the Entebbe International

    Airport On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, a representative of Nile Rapid Falls Tours & Travel will receive you and transfer you to your booked Hotel/Lodge in Entebbe or Kampala for your overnight and dinner. Depending on the time of arrival you might spend some time at Uganda Wildlife Education centre (UWEC), home to captive animals and over 200 species of birds.

  • Kampala-Queen Elizabeth National Park

    After your breakfast we shall set off from Kampala and depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. On our way we will pass the Ugandan equator where you can take pictures and shop for a souvenir. After lunch in Mbarara we shall continue to the southwest and head for the Western Rift Valley.

    On arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park you will enjoy an evening game drive before you check in for accommodation and dinner in the park.

  • Queen Elizabeth National Park

    The day start with a game drive to the northern parts of the park. This is an area for excellent game viewing and also offers much to birders. The drive takes through an open grassy plains that support large flocks of the best tour of the park.

    This is the nearest site for the Shoebill, Lesser Jacana, Blue Swallow, Black-Shouldered Nightjar, Afep Pigeon, Blue Breasted Bee-Eater, Papyrus Gonolek, White Winged Warbler, Swamp Flycatcher, Purple Swamphen, African Water Rail, Common Moorhen, African Jacana, African Pygmy-goose, White-faced Whistling-duck, Squacco Heron, Goliath Heron, Black Crake and many more birds.

    We return for lunch and then take a boat launch. Watch hundreds of hippos, elephants and many migratory bird species, such as the Grey headed Gulls, White winged black Terns, African skimmers, Morning Dove, Water Dikkops, Great white and Pink-Backed Pelicans, etc. Return for dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

  • Queen Elizabeth National Park-Lake Bunyonyi

    We depart from Queen Elizabeth with some game and bird viewing on our way out of the park and proceed to the area that is often referred to as “the Switzerland of Uganda” in Kabale. Here you will find Lake Bunyonyi, arguably the deepest lake in Uganda with deepest point at 900m. On a bright day you might even see the beautifully shaped volcano Mount Muhavura.

    Upon arrival at the “Lake of the small birds” a motor boat awaits you for transport to one of the 29 Islands on Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight at the Bunyonyi Overland Resort.

  • Lake Bunyonyi

    After breakfast you can hire a canoe and explore the surroundings from the water surface. Drift quietly to the several small islands and enjoy the rich birdlife. Return for lunch and then take on a Bird Walk in Mukoni Village. Pass small farms and enjoy the spectacular view as you look out for many birds.

    Generally 40 to 50 different species may be seen on this walk, including the African Hobby, Black Kite, Swamp Flycatcher, Scarlet-chested, Bronze and Red-chested Sunbirds, White-headed Saw-wing etc. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort.

  • Lake Bunyonyi - Kampala,

    After breakfast we return towards the capital city and if time allows visit the souvenir shop, with lunch en route. The drive takes about 7 hours but runs through a beautiful countryside. Arrival in Kampala late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.

  • Entebbe International Airport

    Enriched with an experience of a lifetime and unforgettable memories you will say goodbye to the Pearl of Africa. Depending on the time of departure you will be transferred to the airport for you flight back home. We are looking forward to seeing you again!
