Gombe is the smallest of Tanzanias national parks. This park in a fragile strip of chimpanzee habitat straddling the steep slopes and river valleys that hem in the sandy northern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Its chimpanzees, which are habituated to human visitors, were made famous by the pioneering work of Jane Goodall who founded a behavioral research program in 1960.   • Kigoma - Gombe Stream National Park

    You will leave for the Kibirizi port for your boat to Gombe Stream National Park in time to take off for a chimpanzee tracking Tour in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park’s main attraction is obviously the chimpanzee families that live protected inside the park’s boundaries.

    Visitors take walks deep into the forest to observe and sit with these extraordinary primates for an entire morning. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in these tropical forests. Colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs and dik dik inhabit the dense forest as well as a wide variety of tropical birdlife. Later in the evening you will head to Gombe Bandas lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

  • Gombe Stream National Park

    After early breakfast you will take off for another day of chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park became well known for the conservation project started by Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe on 1960.

    You will climb to Jane’s peak and visit Kakombe waterfalls if time allows; as well as taking a walk on your own, after this trek, along the lakeÂ’s waterfall is also possible. Later in the day you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

  • Gombe - Kigoma Historical town

    After breakfast you will be picked-up and taken, by boat, back to Kigoma Town. Upon arrival you will be picked-up and driven to the airport for your flight back to Dar Es Salaam. This is where your safari will end.
