Description

Gombe is the smallest of Tanzanias national parks. This park in a fragile strip of chimpanzee habitat straddling the steep slopes and river valleys that hem in the sandy northern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Its chimpanzees, which are habituated to human visitors, were made famous by the pioneering work of Jane Goodall who founded a behavioral research program in 1960.   • Dar Es Salaam

    Arrive Dar es salaam international airport and transfer to the Sleep Inn Hotel BB. Dar es Salaam is the countrys largest city and main port, and is the entry/exit point for international flights. It is a vibrant and bustling modern African city, and it will sometimes be necessary to stop here for a nights stay, but many visitors pass straight through.

  • Mikumi National Park

    Drive to Mikumi National Park, and will arrival for game view at the Park. Overnight at Mikumi Bush Camp.(Option of Night game view can be done but 50$ per person paid direct at the Park) This is Tanzanias fourth-largest national park, with a landscape of baobabs, black hardwood trees and grassy plains, and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. With almost guaranteed year-round wildlife sightings, Mikumi makes an ideal safari destination for those without much time.

  • Udzungwa Mountains National Park

    Mikumi morning game viewing, the main feature is the Mikumi flood plain, along with the mountain ranges that border the park on two sides. Mikumi shares its boundary in the extreme south, with the Selous Game Reserve, and the two make one ecosystem with some animals (Elephant, Buffaloes and Zebras) migrating to and from the northern part of the reserve into Mikumi National Park.

    Because of its accessibility it is one of the most popular parks in Tanzania and is an important centre for education where students go to study ecology and conservation. Lion is commonly seen as are packs of wild dogs, rare elsewhere in Africa. Crocodiles, monitor lizard and python are commonly found in Udzungwa Mountain National Park.   • Kilombero Valley

    Driver to Kilombero valley and will have a canoe safari at Kilombero River. The Kilombero Valley is a unique, complex ecosystem with one of the highest wild mammal densities in Tanzania. The main location to visit in Kilombero is the fishing village of Mikeregembe.

    Located a kilometer form the border of the Selous Game Reserve. This idyllic village nestles between Boomerolanga Forest Reserve and the Kilombero Rive. (Option local fishing Trip) Transfer to Udzungwa forest campsite for dinner and overnight FB.

  • Udzungwa Mountains National Park

    This day enjoy full day treking Udzungwa Mountain overnight at udzung forest campsite FB Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a national park in Tanzania with a size of 1,990 km2 (770 miles2). The habitats contained within the national park include tropical rainforest, mountain forest, miombo woodland, grassland and steppe.

    There is a vertical height range of 250–2,576 metres (the peak of Lohomero), which incorporates the Udzungwa Mountains part of the Eastern Arc Mountains. There are more than 400 bird species, 2500 plant species (25% of which are endemics) and 6 primate species. It has the second largest biodiversity of a national park in Africa.

  • Ruaha National park

    Proceed to Ruaha National park. The Park is known as for its large elephant and buffalo herds and one of its principal attractions lies in being able to see greater and lesser kudu as well as the majestic sable and roan antelope within the same area.

    As well as an abundance of lion, leopard and cheetah it is also home to the increasingly rare African Hunting Dog. Ruaha National Park is a great year round park due to its good all weather road network. The South West area of Tanzania where Ruaha National Park is located has the lowest rainfall in Tanzania.   • Ruaha National Park

    Full day game view at Ruaha National Park. Overnight at Ruaha Bandas. FB Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania. The addition of the Usangu Game Reserve and other important wetlands to the park in 2008 increased its size to about 20,226 square kilometres (7,809 sq mi), making it the largest park in Tanzania and East Africa.

    The park is about 130 kilometres (81 mi) west of Iringa. The park is a part of the 45,000 square kilometres (17,000 sq mi) Rungwa-Kizigo-Muhesi ecosystem, which includes the Rungwa Game Reserve, the Kizigo and Muhesi Game Reserves, and the Mbomipa Wildlife Management Area.

  • Isimila Stone Age Site

    After breakfast then drive to Iringa pass through Ismila stone age- These are found in Ismila village not far away from Iringa town. As you travel along Iringa-Mbeya Road on your left hand side, it’s about 20 km. Its location is at the foot of a small hill believed to have had caves on which the ancient people lived. You could easily take a glimpse of a sign post by the road side that indicates the Stone Age site.

    Situated in an eroded valley, the site occupies a 33 hectares of land of what was once a lake bed. It is in this site whereby the amazing richest finds of Stone Age tools known as Acheulian type including the bones and skeletons of pre-historic animals were discovered in 1951. Then proceed to Kisolonza farm for Dinner and Overnight at the Campsite BB.

    After breakfast visit Kisolonza farm- he Farm is a gracious old farm homestead with some thatched guest cottages. Rooms are available in the farm itself or in these self-contained cottages. The home of the Ghaui family for over 70 years, Kisolanza remains a working farm providing beef and vegetables to the surrounding markets as well as further afield in Dar-es-Salaam. The farm is 50km south-west of Iringa and makes a good stopping off point if driving between Mikumi National Park and Ruaha National Park.

    The farm is at an altitude of 1600m ensuring a pleasant fresh climate in one of the most scenic areas of Tanzania- the southern Highlands. Activities on offer include swimming and fishing on a nearby lake, visits to the colonial town of Iringa and trips to Isimila Stone Age Site- Tanzania’s combination of Stonehenge and the Grand Canyon.   • Mbozi meteorite, Ngozi Crater, Kiwira natural Bridge and the brdge of God (Daraja la Mungu)

    Proceed to Mbozi area where you will visit some area like Mbozi meteorite, Ngozi Crater, Kiwira natural Bridge then proceed to accommodation at Matema Beach Lutheran Centre. BB After breakfast, drive to Ngozi is another million year old volcano that can be climbed in just a few hours.

    After climbing to the top through tropical vegetation you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the Crater Lake, lying 200 meters below. Drive to Kiwira-Songwe where you can find a famous attraction; the brdge of God (Daraja la Mungu). A millions of years old rock forms a natural bridge that crosses the river. Just a few kilometers up the Kiwira valley is the ‘cooking pot’ where the Kiwira River falls into a seething cauldron or sump and the Marasusa waterfalls.

  • Full day stay at Matema Beach

    Travelling to Matema Beach is made up of beautiful views of real African life of the local communities. A winding road passes through high, Livingstone Mountains and tea estates before it descends to the tropical shores of Lake Nyasa. From Matema Beach, you can make canoe trips with fishermen over the lake to the nearby village where women specialize in pottery. There is a superb snookering rocky shoreline, also a waterfall from Livingstone Mountains.

    This day if you like we can organise walk at Chome Mountain bike and walk at Manchewe waterfalls paid direct at Stine House for 10$ per person, then transfer to Nkata bay for relaxing at the beach overnight at Njaya Budget Beach Bandas BB Manchewe Falls. The truly spectacular Manchewe and Kazichi Falls crash down the Rift Valley, with the highest single drop being over 80 meters. The waterfalls, surrounded by lush rainforest, can be viewed from Lukwe in all their magnificence.

    This day you will walk around the Bay. Nkhata Bay is at the most northerly point on the Lake reached by David Livingstone. Its small sheltered harbour is a focus for the Lake’s fishing industry but it is also becoming increasingly important as a Tourist centre. As a vibrant port town in the North of Malawi, it is often referred to as the gateway to the islands. It has a wonderful carving market and a bustling (almost Caribbean) feel to it.   • Nkata Bay to Salima to Cape Maclea – Monkey Bay,

    Proceed Nkata Bay to Salima to Cape Maclea – Monkey Bay, This is a beautiful bay and very busy little town with an interesting market and all the usual services. An Optional visit Mua Mission is found just off the the main lakeshore road, the M5.

    The mission is famous for the quality of the wood carvings produced (and sold) there. The standards are superb and the prices very reasonable. There after will transfer to southern lakeshore Monkey Bay this is one of the Malawis main lake Ports, later transfer to Cape Maclear for Dinner and overnight at Mufasa Gaia House. BB.

  • Mount Mulanje

    Breakfast then proceed to Mulanje Mountain, on the way you will have a chance to lean about African tradition, arrival at Mulanje and visit Tea Estate, Overnight at Likhubala House. BB Mount Mulanje. The scale of this truly magnificent mountain has to be seen to be appreciated. Its bare rock flanks tower to almost 10000ft (3000m), dwarfing all that surrounds it. It lies to the east of Blantyre and is easily accessible. Visitors can drive round the foot of the massif in a day but even more attractive is to trek.

    This day will cross the border of Mozambique to Tanzania pass through Mtwara, and overnight at Til Hotels BB Mtwara (Portuguese: Montewara) is the capital city of Mtwara Region in southeastern Tanzania. In the 1940s, it was planned and constructed as the export facility for the disastrous Tanganyika groundnut scheme, but was somewhat neglected when the scheme was abandoned in 1951.

    The city is spread out over a large area planned to accommodate up to 200,000 people. The present population is around 80,000. As part of the development associated with the failed Tanganyika groundnut scheme, Mtwara features a deep-water port that can accommodate ocean-going vessels, and a range of large municipal buildings, including a post office. Recent improvements in the port made it possible for big container ships to berth there.

    Today visit the historical town of Kilwa which is divided into three different towns. Kilwa Kivinje, Kilwa Masoko and Kilwa Kisiwani with Songo Mnara and Sanje Ya Kiti. Kilwa Masoko is however the least interesting history wise, but the modern town right now, and centre of operations as well as location of all modern day facilities. The others are the places to go for historical reasons.

    Kilwa Kivinje, was in the 19th Century an Arabian slave and ivory trading town, where caravans started off into the interior. Kilwa Kisiwani, is where one will find the greatest collection of ruins. Directly on the Northern shore one will find the old Omani Fort, which is built on the foundations of the old Portuguese fort, in the early 19th Century, and where still an old wooden door remains. The Big Mosque is from the 12th Century and was further extended up to the 15th Century. It was said to be the largest mosque in East Africa. Overnight at Kilwa Sea view Hotel. BB.
