Description

Mount Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania after Kilimanjaro. Has the elevation of 4,566m. Is inside Arusha National Park. Many people use to climb Mount Meru before Kilimanjaro as it help for acclimatization.

Another advantage is walking and watching wild animals. This makes Mount Meru unique. You can climb 3 days but we recommend 4 days to avoid long walk at the last day from summit to the gate. Our expert guides and Armed Ranger will show you the beauty of this Mountain. Welcome.

  • Morning from Arusha City drive to Momella Gate

    Morning after breakfast with your gears, lunch and drinking water drive to Arusha Park gate 30 minutes. Get permit and continue driving to Momella gate. On the way to Momella gate enjoy wild animals like Bufalloes, Baboons, Monkeys, Giraffe, Zebras, Warthog etc. 30 minutes drive to Momella gate.

    After check in start walking to Miriakamba hut. Taking short route enjoy lovely scenery of the Park and wild animals. The walk to Miriakamba hut takes about 4hrs. Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba hut 2,500m full board basis.

  • Walk to saddle hut

    Morning after breakfast with picnic lunch and drinking water, continue walking to Saddle hut. Walking on the crater rim, the trail is a bit steep. Pass to the huge rain forest and see the perfect view of Meru Ash cone and wild animals in the crater.

    The walk today takes about 4-5hrs. After arrive at Saddle hut relax with hot cup of tea/coffee. Take short walk to a little Meru for acclimatization. The top of little Meru is 3,820m. Return to the hut for dinner and overnight 3,500m full board basis

  • Walk for summit

    Midnight after refreshing tea with cookies and take your gears on, start walking for summit. The walk to summit takes about 5-6hrs. Our slogan(Polepole) means slowly. Walk slowly passing Meru Mountain crater rim. After arriving at Meru summit Called socialist peak 4,566m, take photos for about 20 minutes.

    Descend down to Miriakamba hut via Saddle hut. The walk down to Saddle hut takes about 3hrs. Get breakfast and continue walking down to Miriakamba hut for 2-3 hrs. Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba hut full board basis.

  • Descend to Momella Park gate and drive to Arusha

    Morning after breakfast descend to Momella gate 4-5hrs taking longer route. Pass to Meru crater and enjoy great rain forest with wild animals. On the way down you will pass through Fig tree.

    This is amazing tree which a road passing through. Before Momella gate visit waterfalls and see large group of Buffaloes and Giraffe up close. Meet car at the gate and transfer to Arusha City.
