Arusha to Miriakamba Camp
After breakfast, travel from Arusha to Momela Gate through the Arusha National Park, where the Mt. Meru trek begins. Arusha to Momela Gate to Miriakamba Hut (10km, 4-5 hour walk, 1000m ascent). You will cross to Ngarenanyuki River and continue into the forest, passing the Fig Tree Arch, Itikoni Clearing and Maio Falls, until you reach Miriakamba Hut.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
After breakfast you will start from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (4km, 2-3 hour walk, 1070m ascent) The day is spent trekking to the Saddle Hut, where you decide among the following options: either a 2-3 hour trek to the summit of Little Meru (3820m), where you can enjoy views of the Meru Summit, the top of the Ash Cone inside the caldera, the crater horseshoe as well as the magnificent
Mt. Kilimanjaro; or a two hour trek to the Rhino Point, for views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Meru crater (this route is actually the main route to the Meru Summit but because of the views it is worth trekking at least twice) or the last option is for you to relax at the Saddle Hut.

Saddle Hut to Meru Summit to Miriakamba Hut
Saddle Hut to Meru Summit and return back to Miriakamba Hut (14km, 8-11 hour walk, 1000m ascent, 2070m descent) Pre-dawn departure from Saddle Hut, passing the Rhino Point and continuing along the narrow rim of the crater towards the Meru Summit to reach just in time for an amazing sunrise behind Mt. Kilimanjaro. Descent to Miriakamba Hut is taken on the same route.

Miriakamba Hut to Arusha Town
Miriakamba Hut to Momela Gate and lastly heading back to Arusha town (5km, 3-4 hour walk, 1000m descent) After breakfast, depart Miriakamba Hut for Momela Gate, where you will be transferred back to Arusha.
