Dar es saalam to Selous Game Reserve
Pick up at Dar es Salaam then drive to Selous Game Reserve, in the southeast of Tanzania this park encompasses 54,600 sq km and it’s the largest game reserve in Africa, at least three times big as the Serengeti. It was named after the Victorian explorer Fredrick Courtney Selous.
Created by the Germans in 1905, the park long attracted white big-game hunters interested in accumulating trophies. Although the animals are now protected, the park was listed as endangered in 2014. They are largely unaccustomed to man and have remained fairly timid.
Formerly home to 10% of Africa’s entire Elephant population, Selous has lost 67% of its elephants due to poaching. It is classified as one of Tanzania’s if not Africa brutal killing fields. With packed lunch provided have an afternoon game drive.
