Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park
You are up early and enjoy breakfast. At 6.30am, you commence your long drive to Kidepo Valley National Park – an African wilderness in the true sense of the word, where the few safari goers that have made it to Kidepo will agree that the park is indeed one of Africa’s best national parks. You will make a stop at Migyera along the Gulu-Kampala road before continuing to Gulu town, where you will enjoy an early lunch en-route. From Gulu, you will continue, driving through the northern Uganda countryside.
The road from Gulu to Kitgum is under construction so expect marram as well as tarmac sections. After the turn-off from the Kitgum road to Kidepo, the road is good marram during the dry season and it can get slippery during the rainy season. However, the 4X4 vehicles that we recommend for the Kidepo Safaris will navigate through. You arrive in Kidepo late in the evening and check-in at the Apoka UWA Bandas.

Morning & Evening Game drives
You will wake up to nature’s sounds and given the remoteness of Kidepo, count on hearing the sounds of an authentic African morning. You will take a sunrise game-drive in and around Apoka valley. You will then return to the lodge for breakfast after which you will embark on a mid-morning game-adventure that will take you to the Kanangarok hot spring. Here, the so-called Big Five can be seen wandering around including Ostrich. This section also commands amazing scenery with savannah grassland and mountains in the distance. After lunch, you can relax.
In the evening, head out for a game drive along the Narus River Valley. The valley is a rolling grassland enclosed by distant mountains. The valley has permanent water, and for much of the year the park’s wildlife drinks here. On this drive, look out for elephants, herds of buffaloes, lions plus many other mammals. Dinner and overnight at Apoka UWA Bandas.
